Fundraising goal

How do I set or update my fundraising goal?

Your fundraising goal helps supporters see what you are trying to achieve and how close you are to reaching it.

A clear target can make your fundraising more compelling by giving donors a sense of progress and purpose.

Why a fundraising goal helps

  • It gives supporters a clear sense of what you are raising money for.
  • It shows progress as donations come in, which can encourage more people to give.
  • It helps make your appeal feel specific, urgent and achievable.

Supporters are often more likely to donate when they can see both the target and the progress towards it.

Setting your fundraising goal

  1. Go to your dashboard and open Fundraising goal.
  2. Enter your fundraising target in pounds.
  3. Add or update the text explaining what the money will help fund.
  4. Click Save.

Writing a strong goal description

Use the text box to explain what the money will be used for and why it matters.

  • Be specific about what you are fundraising for.
  • Explain who will benefit.
  • Keep the wording simple and easy to understand.

For example, instead of saying “support our organisation”, explain what the funds will help provide, improve or protect.

Resetting your progress to zero

If you are starting a new campaign or want to begin tracking progress again from the beginning, you can use Reset progress to zero.

  • Tick Reset progress to zero if you want to clear the current amount raised against this goal.
  • This can be useful when starting a new fundraising appeal with a new target and message.

Things to keep in mind

  • Choose a goal that feels realistic but meaningful.
  • Update your wording if your fundraising focus changes.
  • Review your goal regularly so your page stays relevant and motivating.
